Who am I and where to find me?

I am a fat soluble Vitamin
I am needed for the posttranslational modification of certain proteins required for blood coagulation and in metabolic pathwaysin bone and other tissue.
Bacteria can produce me in the small intestines. No known toxicity exists for me.
My structure looks like this. I am also called phylloquinone
Taking broad-spectrum antibiotics can reduce my production in the gut by nearly 74% in people compared with those not taking these antibiotic

Like other liposoluble vitamins I am  stored in the fat tissue of the human body. I am found chiefly in leafy green vegetables such as spinachswiss chard, and Brassica (e.g. cabbagekalecauliflowerbroccoli, and brussels sprouts); some fruits such as avocadokiwifruit and grapes.

As a result of the occurrences of my deficiency bleeding, the Committee on Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that 0.5 to 1.0 mg of me be administered to all newborns shortly after birth.

I am your friend Vitamin K - I will tell more about myself and controversies some other time
